Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) and heart failure – Greybox’s Takecare in the spotlight

The CONTINUUM study using Greybox’s digital Takecare solution was presented at the last American Heart Association conference in Chicago. In the summary of the study, the authors state that preliminary results show potential benefits for a mobile application combining self-management, remote monitoring, and digital therapies in preventing major events in ambulatory heart-failure patients, at a reduced cost to the healthcare system. \

The CONTINUUM program is a partnership between Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM), Centre de recherche du CHUM, MEDTEQ+, Greybox Solutions Inc., Mitacs, PROMPT, and Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Ltd./Ltée. Thirteen years ago in the pages of the NEJM, Harlan Krumholz et al. reported on research on the remote monitoring of heart failure, which, though unsuccessful, remains the most influential study on the subject. Now, a Québec group has succeeded in demonstrating the positive impact of digital therapy on heart-failure patients. The company is now planning to duplicate this approach in the mental health and respiratory sectors.
